Adopt a Pond is a program Cedar Point hosts with the sponsorship of Charlotte County. It is not only to enhance the health and sustainability of stormwater ponds, but also to provide opportunities for education and community engagement. Adopt a Pond is a volunteer-based program with trash removal being the main activity. The ponds covered in our program are stormwater ponds. Stormwater ponds are man-made ponds that are generated from rain that flows over land such as parking lots, roofs, streets, and sidewalks. Unfortunately the runoff picks up trash and deposits it into the stormwater ponds. Countless native animals and plants live in stormwater ponds and we've taken it upon ourselves to remove that trash from the ponds and properly dispose of it. We provide all of the materials to complete the clean-up, including, but not limited to trash pickers, trash bags, and gloves. You are responsible for bringing water, insect repellent and sunscreen, and wearing close-toed shoes and proper clothing.
If you are interested in adopting a pond with us, please fill out this Google Form. Many thanks to Charlotte County for sponsoring this program!
