We are a local environmental non-profit established in 1987, with an engaged board of directors and volunteers. We promote environmental conservation, protection and the preservation of our natural areas for today and future generations. Our focus is in the greater Charlotte Harbor and Lemon Bay region. We share these responsibilities with our volunteers, the community and visitors.

Meet Clyde Butcher at his book signing, November 7, 2015 10am - 2pm. He will be signing his latest book at CHEC. In addition, Charbor Harbor Environmental Center will be exhibiting his "Preserving Eden" photographs from November 7, 2015 - January 15, 2016.

Save the date, Friday Nov. 13th at 6pm at Laishley Pavilions in Laishley Park. Join us to experience an exclusive and unforgettable evening at the 1st annual Harvest for the Harbor. This unique outdoor Farm-to-Table dinner celebrates the Harbor's harvest and local, small farmers. Southwest Florida chefs will prepare culinary creations utilizing fresh local foods that will excite your palate. You will have the opportunity to sample distinctively delicious dishes created especially for this dinner as the sun sets over beautiful Charlotte Harbor along with rustic decorations, live local musicians and exciting silent auctions items.

Hands Across The Harbor

Save the Date for the 8th Annual Hands Across the Harbor event taking place on January 30, 2016. New this year Hands Across the Harbor will feature a ½ marathon and 5K competitive run, 5K walk, 13.1 /20/30 mile bike rides and a 13.1 mile competitive longboard race! The event is also going “green” by using eco-friendly products when feasible. Recycle Bins will be available for old running shoes. Protection Water Resources, Habitats and Wildlife

Our focus is to provide hands-on programming-on water and land. Our programs are designed for children and adults at all levels of knowledge. We offer wading sea-grass adventures, pontoon boat journeys, guided hikes and more. We seek to strengthen stewardship through environmental education and recreation activities.
